~W. Allen Taft, CHAIRMAN
Mr. Taft is Chairman of The Taft Companies, with offices in South Carolina, the District of Columbia and Montana. The Taft Companies provides consulting, management, and related services to captives and insurance and reinsurance companies. Mr. Taft has extensive experience with captives, rent-a-captives and alternative risk transfer mechanisms.
Prior to forming The Taft Companies, Mr. Taft was Director of Alternative Risk Marketing for American International Company Limited, Hamilton, Bermuda; and Executive Vice President of Richmond Insurance Company Limited, Hamilton, Bermuda, where his duties included responsibilty for AIG's worldwide captive management operations and the finite underwriting activities of Richmond Insurance Company.
Mr. Taft was previously a Vice President of Centre Reinsurance Holdings, Hamilton, Bermuda; Underwriting Vice President of Pinnacle Reinsurance Company Limited, Bermuda; and Managing Director of Pinnacle Representatives Limited, London, the London Market contact office of Pinnacle.
Mr. Taft is a past Chair of the South Carolina Captive Insurance Association, of which he was a Founding Director. He was also a member of the District of Columbia Insurance Department's Captive Insurance Advisory Council. He is a recognized and respected industry speaker on alternative risk transfer (ART) mechanisms and their funding.
A native of New England, Mr Taft is a graduate of Lafayette College, Easton, Pennsylvania, and holds a Masters Degree in International Business from the American Graduate School of International Management, Glendale, Arizona.
